Today I’m starting a new personal challenge to post to this blog once a day for 30 days. My plan is to post what I’ve been working on/accomplishments. That sounds like what most people post, but for me it’ll be focused (mostly) on fabric design. I’ve been doing a large amount of drawing and design work, and have recently added in sewing again. So, we’ll see how things develop.
Here’s my design for this week’s challenge at Spoonflower, Animal Prints. It’s not my favorite, but I do like the color palette. It’s a little more mellow than my usual and incorporates Pantone’s Color of the Year, Living Coral. Also, I am glad that I fit the motifs together pretty well and used similar motives – more repetition and less variation than some of my past designs, and I think that’s an improvement. Not 100% satisfied with the overall repeat though, despite uploading 70 versions of the design, modifying the colors one or two motifs at a time. Lesson learned (I hope!): take care of these things earlier in the process when the design is still vectorized and easier to manipulate. (I use Clip Studio Paint as my main program; for others, the process might be different.)
Wow, day 1 turned out easier than expected – once I actually got started. Thanks for stopping by.
