Pineapples! A while back I did a “Happy Drawing” a day and posted them here. Most would not be easily translated into repeating fabric designs, but these pineapples seemed doable, and they turned out pretty cute. Adding texture and shadows made a big difference. I admit, they look more like paper cutout versions of pineapples than the actual fruit, but I’m OK with that. Both background colors (red and blue) are looking good, IMHO.
First, fat quarter, test swatch and yard views:
Now, the mock-ups. I rarely make designs that are small enough scale to fit on the table runner, but this one does, and since it has a type of food, it’s doubly good for this use.
And here’s the original. I obviously changed the layout a lot, to make it more pattern-like:
I may not be through with these pineapples, yet.
Also, I am having trouble keeping up with my experiments. In addition to what I’m posting, I’m also doing a page of drawings a day. It’s a lot and I need to find a way to make it more fun than overwhelming while still making progress on both designing and drawing most days. I don’t know exactly what this means just yet, so for now, thanks for stopping by!
