First of all, wow, I did it! Last day of my 30 day challenge and I didn’t miss a day. I’m getting better at these challenges! Now, my intention is to blog 2 days a week. Anyway, here’s the “front” of the tote – I say front, but it just as well could be theContinue reading “Sewing Project: V. Large Tote 3 (blog-a-day challenge, day 30)”
Today I fine tuned the sides, bottom, and straps for the tote. I added interfacing to a couple of the thinner pieces and squared up the fabric, but I’ll probably trim each piece more before sewing them together. I also chose the liner fabric today – I’ll post pix of that another day. From leftContinue reading “Sewing Project: V. Large Tote 2 (blog-a-day challenge, day 29)”
Today I sorted through the pile of material from yesterday and chose most of the fabrics for the outside of the tote. As the focus of my design, I decided on some elephant upholstery weight fabric scraps. I acquired these, as well as many of the other fabrics I’ll be using, a couple of yearsContinue reading “Sewing Project: V. Large Tote (blog-a-day challenge day 28)”
Happy with the success of my swatch purse, I’ve decided to do something similar on a larger scale. Several years ago, I made this very large tote. It comes in handy when grocery shopping as it is roomy and the material is strong. It’s of a heavier material, albeit a somewhat loose weave, and lined.Continue reading “New Project (blog-a-day challenge, day 27)”
And my entry for this week’s design challenge at Spoonflower. Have been working on this all day, and my head is spinning a little. So – maybe some minor (hopefully not major) revisions to be made tomorrow. The contest theme is “Desert Modernism” and voting starts Thursday. “modern desert floral” by lalalamonique
Quick drawing to design challenge entry plus 3 other color variations. The contest was for a monochrome design. See the collection for sale at Spoonflower here.
It’s done and I’m loving it! The swatch purse, that is. Here are the 12 fabrics I used (all designs by me): Now available: front: monochromabstract purple back: fruity slices flap: meadow * strap and top: large scale intricate heart* sides: dotty liner 1: monochromabstract red liner 2: illogical checkerboard* interior pocket: whimsical creatures* linerContinue reading “The swatch purse is done! Not feeling it today, so here’s a quick before and after. The original was a watercolor with drawing in crayola fine line marker over top. I removed the background digitally and replaced it with a rust color to which I used a drawing tool to add some texture. This technique is fun – I reallyContinue reading “Before and After 3 (blog-a-day challenge, day 23)”
Sorry-not-sorry for the click-bait-y title. My friend thought of it – I’m not so good with the puns. Anyway, here are a couple of my designs on mugs I bought from Society 6. Very happy with them. It was fun drinking coffee out of something of my own design this morning. Sometimes the small thingsContinue reading “Mug Shot (blog-a-day challenge, day 22)”
Nothing design related to report, so I looked through some of my photos. I had forgotten about this visitor to my neighbors’ yard while they were away for the day. Taken last summer (2018).
This is all I’ve been working on today. Still tweaking it a bit, but this is basically it – my entry for the Coral Limited Color Palette design challenge at Spoonflower. The following four colors were allowed and all were required: Goldenrod (#E0B138) Midnight Blue (#002E54) Living Coral (Pantone’s color of the year, hex equivalentContinue reading “Design Challenge Entry (blog-a-day challenge day 20)”
So very close – but not quite done yet. It’s probably not noticeable from the picture, but I still need to do a few minor things to finish the handbag – add some edge stitching, including closing a seam under the flap and add the hook-and-loop closure. Very, very happy with how this is turningContinue reading “What I’m working on 8 (blog-a-day challenge day 19)”
