Back after a long break with my entry for the latest design challenge at Spoonflower. For this design, I started with the beautiful colorway mentioned in Spoonflower’s Winter 2021 Trend Report blog post and added several tonal variations. Simple rectangular shapes were made interesting with overlays of tiny-scale plaid and stripe patterns. The result isContinue reading “Contest Entry: “Small-Scaled Geometric” Design Challenge”

New for Sale! Retro Laminate Tabletop Wannabe

This design, my entry for the Pastel CafĂ© contest a while back, was inspired by the old school Formica laminates of the 60s/70s. In our house, I recall a Formica bathroom countertop in pinks and also barely remember an older kitchen table, possibly in silver on white. To make this design unique, I’ve used differentContinue reading “New for Sale! Retro Laminate Tabletop Wannabe”

What Can I do in 30 minutes a day? Parts 6, 7, and 8

This is a compilation of my work on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Sewing was begun; progress was made. Maybe not quite as much as I would have liked, as I had some sewing machine tension issues, which involved a bit of seam picking (included in the 30 minutes) and a bit of cleaning/oiling of myContinue reading “What Can I do in 30 minutes a day? New Project (blog-a-day challenge, day 27)

Happy with the success of my swatch purse, I’ve decided to do something similar on a larger scale. Several years ago, I made this very large tote. It comes in handy when grocery shopping as it is roomy and the material is strong. It’s of a heavier material, albeit a somewhat loose weave, and lined.Continue reading “New Project (blog-a-day challenge, day 27)”
