Above, thirty more of my flower-a-day-for-a-year challenge drawings are pictured. (I’m up to #170 with the actual drawings.) Some of these have already been transformed into designs. Perhaps I’ll go more into the process in future posts; for now, here are two of the completed designs – maybe you can guess which flowers have beenContinue reading “A Flower A Day Challenge: 120 Day Milestone”
For the “Bohemian Paradise” design challenge next week at Spoonflower. Voting starts Thursday, February 21st. Super pleased with my entry this time. A drawing that was heavily digitally edited to look very batik-like. “boho tropical mandala flowers large scale” by lalalamonique
And my entry for this week’s design challenge at Spoonflower. Have been working on this all day, and my head is spinning a little. So – maybe some minor (hopefully not major) revisions to be made tomorrow. The contest theme is “Desert Modernism” and voting starts Thursday. “modern desert floral” by lalalamonique
Quick drawing to design challenge entry plus 3 other color variations. The contest was for a monochrome design. See the collection for sale at Spoonflower here.
Inktober Day 10 “Flowing” (11×14 inches, dye-na-flow paint and G2 pen on bristol board) Salmon, or at least salmon colored fish-like things (I admit, I don’t have a good concept of what salmon look like) flowing upstream.
Inktober Day 9 “Precious” (9×12 inches, G2 pen) Making a statement on our culture and the arbitrariness (is that even a word?) of what things are worth.
Inktober Day 8 “Star” (11×14 inches, dye-na-flow paint and G2 Pen) Phew, an easy prompt again!
Inktober Day 7 “Exhausted” (9×12 inches, crayola markers) Ok, the subject matter has nothing to do with the prompt. But, I was exhausted when drawing it. And I didn’t want to think. So I just went with drawing with nothing particular in mind. It was kind of relaxing. //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
Inktober Day 6 “Drooling” (9×12 inches, crayola markers) I actually thought the prompt was “drool” when doing this, but I guess “drooling” works OK, too. The important thing to me was to not draw some creature drooling. Yuck!
Inktober Day 5 “Chicken” (9×12 inches, Crayola markers) I didn’t feel like drawing another chicken after my rather involved entry for the Illustrated Animals challenge at Spoonflower (see below), so yeah, I did sorta chicken out. //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js Chicken Lalala tea towel, available soon at Spoonflower. https://www.spoonflower.com/designs/8022629-chicken-lalala-tea-towel-by-lalalamonique //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
Inktober Day 4 “Spell” (9×12, G2 Pen) This made me glad I took Jerry Moriarty’s class “How to Draw Anything, Especially from your head” back in the old days at SVA in New York City. I couldn’t remember the exact name of the class, but a quick search brought me to the Quora question “WhatContinue reading “Inktober Day 4”
Inktober Day 3 “Roasted” (9×12 inches, G2 pen) Sun and fire, decorative version.
