Last evening, on day 2 of this creative journey, I looked out my front door and saw many blackbirds in my front lawn. This is not a usual thing for me, although if you were my neighbor, you might argue that the un-mown state of my lawn might have something to do with it.

I don't know what kind of birds they were - smaller than crows, and blacker, I think, than the rusty blackbird which is apparently common in the Adirondacks.

Because I am interested in such things, I looked up what sighting such birds might mean symbolically: magic, mystery, transformation (or even death, which I will take in this case as a metaphorical death or psychological transformation). According to what I read at least, Christians believe that these birds are a sign of the Holy Spirit.

What can I say? As I take this (hopefully transformative) journey, I am pleased for this sign along the way!

This routine is not meant to force me into a better mood, but rather to create space so that joy will occur more and more each day.
